Getting Started With Medicare

How We Support Those Entering Medicare

We’ve built a proprietary Formal Medicare Planning (FMP) educational system to guide you through entering the world of Medicare. Moving from employer coverage to Medicare can feel overwhelming—most people have spent their entire adult lives on group insurance, and Medicare works very differently. These tools help you understand Medicare well before you need to take action.

Our Formal Medicare Planning (FMP) System helps you feel confident and prepared through:

- Educational newsletters

- Short, easy-to-understand videos

- Clear, step-by-step instructions

Because of the high volume of referrals we receive from financial advisors, CPAs, attorneys, and our longtime happy clients, we’ve designed a system that allows us to educate and prepare clients early (starting at age 63) while keeping our calendar open for those who are officially transitioning into Medicare within the next 120 days.

Our office schedules appointments only for individuals who are within 120 days of joining Medicare—either at turning age 65, or after age 65 at retirement or loss of employer coverage.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO MEDICARE

Who this is for:

- Individuals turning 65

- Individuals over 65 entering Medicare due to retirement or loss of employer coverage

- Individuals losing coverage under a spouse’s or domestic partner’s employer plan

Important Note:

If you work for an employer with 20 or more employees, or are covered under a spouse or domestic partner who works for an employer with 20 or more employees, Medicare is optional at 65. Review our 20-Employee Medicare Rule here to learn more.

The 7-Month Rule (Starting Medicare at Age 65)

Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) includes:

- The 3 months before your 65th birthday month

- Your birthday month

- The 3 months after your birthday month

The 8-Month Rule (Starting Medicare After Age 65)

If you delay Medicare due to active employer coverage, you receive an 8-month Special Enrollment Period (SEP) after:

- You stop working OR

- Your employer coverage ends

(whichever happens first)

You can enroll in Medicare Parts A and B during this period without a late enrollment penalty.

The Help Me Medicare Man Enrollment Method

To Keep Your Medicare Planning Simplified, Smooth, & Stress-Free

To begin your Medicare Planning, start by completing our customized questionnaire. This is essential for us to gather important details for your individual situation to best structure your planning to ensure key needs and timelines are accounted for.

When Should You Submit Our Questionnaire?

  • At age 63- starting the planning process ahead of age 65 ensures you won't miss critical enrollment deadlines which can result in lifetime penalties. We will stay in touch with education, tips, and reminders along the way up to your eligible enrollment period!

  • 9-12 months prior to your 65th birthday

  • 12 months prior to retirement or losing employer coverage

2. Personalized Medicare Planning Process
