The Corona Virus and You!

FOR WEEKS now, you cannot turn on the television or listen to the radio, or engage in a conversation that doesn’t revolve almost exclusively around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

There is no doubt that we are living in unprecedented times. Looking into the future, it is really hard to conceive what the “new normal” will be once this is all behind us.  And as humbling and crippling as this pandemic is, it has already started to bring out The Best in many people.  While much of our daily lives have been disrupted or even shut down – dining in a restaurant, having a drink with friends, many jobs have been reduced or even terminated, church services stopped, school and graduations either postponed or cancelled altogether, etc.- we are seeing those people who still can afford to do so, stepping up to the plate. Some are contributing in smaller ways, like ordering takeout meals from their favorite neighborhood restaurants or not buying 6 cases of water and leaving none for someone else, and others who can, are paying the salaries of those who have lost their job or been laid off.  Some retailers are setting aside certain hours on specific days of the week, where those who are elderly or most vulnerable can shop in less crowded conditions and get the necessities they need.

Many people are going to become eligible for Medicare. During all this chaos, I will be here for you. You can continue to call me with any questions or concerns you have, and I will be there to answer. Also, if you know someone who is getting close to Medicare age, please let them know that I can walk them through the entire process without having to be present in their home. It’s very easy.

By telephone, email and virtual methods (like sharing my computer screen with you via a link that I email to you, I can show you what Medicare is and how it works). We will take your medical and prescription drug needs into consideration. I will help you select the most appropriate and cost-efficient plan that includes all of their doctors. I can even sign them up for a plan through an online application. It’s easy for me to continue to help anyone who has Medicare concerns.

If you or someone you know could use my help, please have them contact me at (760) 689-8125

Take Care of Yourself

You have probably heard all of these safety measures before, but they bear repeating:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.

2. Do not shake hands or fist bump with others, but instead give a wave, “air hug”, or “elbow bump”.

3. If you need to go to the grocery store or some public place, be sure to stay at least 4-6 feet from others, and try to plan your visit during slower times.

4. After you touch any common surfaces (door handles, gas pump handles, counters, keypads,  ATM surfaces, etc.) be sure NOT to touch your nose or mouth until you have had a chance to wash or sanitize your hands.

Social Security Locations CLOSED to Walk-Ins

As you may have suspected, the Social Security Administration has closed all of it’s physical locations to in-person meetings and appointments. If you, or someone you know, have questions or need assistance with either your Social Security benefits or turning on your Medicare this will have to be done either online or over the phone. Here is that information:

Phone: 1-800-772-1213

** Note ** Most doctor’s offices are moving in person appointments to virtual ones! If it is something that is non-urgent they are rescheduling several months out. If it is urgent, they are asking that you schedule a “virtual visit” via your phone or Face Time, or go to Urgent Care.  Check to see if your plan has started offering these virtual visits at no charge.

For more information on how this works or if there is a charge for this service, please call the Customer Service number on the back of your insurance card, and they can assist you.

Help Medicare Man Serve 1000 Seniors

Throughout the year I am here to help answer any questions that you may have regarding your Medicare and Supplemental insurance. Will you help me reach a goal of serving one thousand people in 2020? This year I ask that each of you think of that one person you know that needs help with their Medicare insurance.  Please be conscious of folks who will be turning 65 in 2020 or those over 65 and retiring, and those that are on Medicare but are confused and unhappy with their plan and would like an agent to help inform and guide them through their choices.  Thank you!

I personally believe in truthfulness, transparency, and thoughtful communication at all times.  It’s a privilege to serve you, your family and your friends.

Personal Notes

The Corona Virus 2020:

I am an eternal optimist and I’m always seeking a silver lining in life.  Although the ideas of self-quarantining and social distancing are meant to help, the reality is it is hard mentally and physically at any age. But like many of you, my wife and (I and also our furry babies) are doing our best not to go “nuts” with the forced intimacy.

My personal story from this past week…life keeps moving along-

My mother just moved into a new boarding care facility on March 19th. For those of you wondering why my mother was in boarding care, it has to do with the fact she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease seven years ago and has needed 24/7 care the past few years.

The day after she moved in,  our family was told that the facility would not allow visitation for the next several weeks due to Coronavirus.  Under today’s circumstances, I fully support their request, but I was definitely caught off guard. Upon her arrival and to help her settle in I had planned to visit her 3-4 times per week as I normally do.  Not to be completely discouraged or upset my wife and I, with the help of the wonderful caregivers came up with a Plan B!!   Although it will be brief, thanks to Face Time we will still have a chance to see my mom throughout the week until we are allowed to safely visit her again.

As my wife always says, “Keep a positive outlook, there’s always A WAY!”.

My personal message for everyone reading this today…
